M-E-C Design and Engineering - Industrial Dryer Systems
We design, manufacture and service industrial dryer systems and heat energy units, bins, screens, conveyors and pneumatic systems for the processing of a wide range of wet materials. Through a subsidiary, we provide complete pollution abatement solutions. We serve the forest products, agribusiness, food process, biomass energy, and waste residuals industries.

1930s |
W. J. Small Company, Inc. was founded to produce and sell dehydrated alfalfa. Machinery manufactured by the company was used solely for dehydration plants owned by company founder W. J. Small. |
1950s |
W. J. Small Company, Inc. was purchased as the Equipment Department of Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) to engineer, manufacture and construct all the machinery needed for new construction and repair of ADM’s plants. At this time, the Engineering Department started marketing dehydration and feed milling equipment and complete “turnkey” installations of dehydrators and feed mills. |
1960s |
ADM’s Equipment Department was purchased by Altamil Corporation becoming M-E-C Company, and continued manufacturing, engineering and constructing dehydration and feed milling machinery and complete plants. M-E-C expanded its activities to focus on industrial drying with heavy emphasis on supplying drying systems to the forest products industry for preparing wet wood for use in the manufacture of wood fuel pellets, particleboard, medium density fiberboard and oriented strandboard. Since its inception, M-E-C Company has built over 500 dehydration as well as numerous feed manufacturing systems distributed throughout the world. |
2000s |
M-E-C Drying Systems remain the workhorses of the forest products industries. It is our goal to be the preferred supplier of industrial drying systems through continuous innovation, consistent quality and reliable service. |
